The Girls’ Guide to Thriving Through Middle School

What if…

…your daughter starts/continues to love and accept herself and her body now, and avoids decades of potentially comparing herself to others and trying to find her value and worth outside of herself?

… your daughter could begin to learn what true mental and physical health look like right now, instead of confusing them with trying to look a certain way, having certain things, or pleasing everyone around her?

…she could learn to stop putting so much pressure on herself to be perfect, start setting healthy boundaries, and practice healthy communication in relationships right now?

Coaching for Middle School Girls

Here’s the problem:

  • Our society is so hard on girls. Everywhere they turn they see unachievable body goals, and they are taught their value and worth is based on how they look, how they act, and keeping others happy/comfortable.

  • There is so much pressure on girls to be small both mentally and physically, and this is what contributes to so many confidence issues in adult women today - including basing their happiness on external factors such as their partners, looks, and material things, but also not daring to ask for a raise at work or apply for jobs they're qualified for.

  • It shouldn't take us until our 30s and 40s to start learning to put ourselves first and take care of ourselves. We need to start teaching these things MUCH EARLIER!

But, it doesn’t have to be this way!

Hi, I’m Katy

I worked my way up in a large financial corporation over the course of 19 years from doing customer service in college, to making well into the 6 figures as a Vice President.

Along this journey I did a deep dive on myself learning how to overcome body image issues, gain self worth and confidence, finally put myself first and take care of me, how to stop seeking happiness outside myself, how to set and stick to boundaries, and ultimately how to live my best life!

This led me to founding Women's Best Life University and creating my first program, The Working Mom Happiness Method to help women more quickly and easily overcome these issues that took me decades to conquer.

It was in that program that multiple women let me know I needed to create a version of it for younger girls, and so I teamed up with Meghan, and here we are!

Katy Blommer Coaching for Teen Girls

Hi, I'm Meghan!

I have degrees in psychology, education and recently completed my master's in school counseling from Utah State University. I have worked as a teacher for most of the past 13 years, primarily in early childhood grades. I have middle school-aged children myself, and was able to complete my practicum counseling experience in a 5th through 8th grade middle school. What an incredible phase of life, and with the potential for major values, beliefs and practices to develop!

I was fortunate to cross paths with Katy years ago. I participated in her Working Mom Happiness Method course and absolutely loved it! I was beyond excited when the opportunity arose to collaborate with Katy on a course for middle school girls.

Many adults recall middle school as awkward at best, downright miserable at worst. I feel strongly it doesn't need to be that way! We know so much more about childhood and adolescent development, identity formation, how to foster the development of healthy mindsets and behaviors, as well as best parental practices to support our middle school daughters. I can't wait to get started!

We put together this program to help girls feel supported and feel more confident!

Middle School Girls Coaching Program

How it Works

  • 1: Weekly Group Meetings

This is a group learning program, so the girls will join a weekly, group Zoom meeting for 6 weeks. There will also be videos they watch each week (20-40 mins, and 3-4 videos/week) with homework to complete. The goal is to keep their total amount of time spent to about 3-4 hours/week including the Zoom call.

  • 2: Multiple Modules

    There are 5 modules:

    Module 1: What is Happiness
    Module 2: Self Worth
    Module 3: Relationships
    Module 4: Health
    Module 5: Goals

Keep scrolling down for an overview of what will be covered in each.

  • 3: Videos with Parents

There will be one video per module for parents to watch. This will help you understand what your daughter will be focusing on that week, but also provide parenting tips to help teach your daughter the tools going forward.

Who's it for?...

Middle School Girls Support Program

The program is for all girls ages 11-14, and that includes girls who are already happy and confident. It isn't meant only for girls who are struggling. If you have a 10 or 15 year old you think would benefit, we'd be happy to consider her too.

Mental Health Course for Teen Girls

You might be wondering if it's right for your daughter even if she has never indicated she has body image issues. The fact is that by age 11, almost all girls have been impacted by society's obsession with beauty and bodies, so she likely has been exposed even if she's not talking about it. Even if she hasn't, it's still beneficial to deliberately teach the important tools to help stand up against the pressures of society as a preventative measure for when it happens, because it will. It's also important to note that body image is only one component of this course. It's packed with multiple other valuable life skills that these girls will not be taught in school.

Why now?...

Group Coaching for Middle School Girls

It’s always a good time to invest in your daughter’s mental health, but at this age, the sooner she can learn these critical life skills to be able to stand on her own when pressured to fit in, how to appreciate and respect her current body, and how to start setting and achieving her goals, the better!

Virtual Group Program for Teen Girls

If you have a vacation or some other conflict during the 6 weeks that's okay because the course is completely virtual, and should only take 4-3 hours total per week (that includes the weekly group session). So all you need in order for her to keep up with the course is a wifi connection, and to free up the time for the group session (which will also be recorded if she can’t make it).

Why it's worth the investment...

This program will give your daughter the strong foundation she needs to feel confident in a world that is set up to make her feel like she needs to shrink.

She'll start forming the subconscious programming needed for setting boundaries and learning how to find happiness with herself instead of relying on other people and people pleasing.

It's an investment in your daughter's mental health, and there are very few things worth more than that. Plus, it will give the two of you a common language to use as she heads toward the rest of middle school, high school, and beyond!

Course Information

  • You can do self-guided, or a a group! The group weekly Zoom calls will be recorded for any girls who can't join at that time.

  • There will be a group messaging app called Slack where the girls can message each other throughout the program. This is a free app, and Meghan and I will be in there monitoring and responding. It'll be the best place to get a hold of us for the girls and the parents throughout the program.

  • The girls will create a Best Life document throughout the program that they should continue to read every morning. It will help solidify the messages they learn in the program going forward.
